Pick Up the Damn Phone! How People, Not Technology, Seal the Deal

Professional Development Series - East Bay

Pick up the Damn PhoneJoin us for a powerful discussion led by author Joanne Black to learn just how people, not technology, seal the deal. Sales success comes from real conversations with real people. It’s time to tweet less and talk more to the customers and contacts who really matter. The rapid growth of LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and a whole range of other social selling tools, has led an entire generation of sales people to abdicate their sales duties to technology. This disconnect is evidenced with increasingly impersonal pitches sent randomly into the cloud. While much about sales has changed in the last decade, one thing never will; people still buy from people they know, like, and trust. As a sales person, it's our job to make the connections that matter. And those connections are cemented with a phone call, not a status update.

You and your fellow FWSF colleagues will enjoy a buffet dinner at Faz Restaurant in Oakland while learning why:

  • Technology addiction impacts personal connections
  • We're smarter than our buyers
  • Marketing can't qualify our leads
  • There's no such thing as a "warm" call
  • The gatekeeper left the building

No More Cold CallingJoanne will be providing all attendees with a copy of her first book, a one-of-a-kind sales guide - NO MORE COLD CALLING™: The Breakthrough System That Will Leave Your Competition in the Dust.

We will also hear from Helene Jaffe, her incredible story and how she came to found the Helene Jaffe Ovarian Cancer Fund at UCSF and the amazing work they are doing.

Ovarian cancer is called "the silent killer" because its early symptoms — like bloating, gassiness and frequent urination — are easy to overlook. It's often not detected until it's spread outside the ovaries, making it much more difficult to treat.

When Helene Jaffe's ovarian cancer was caught, she had a grapefruit-sized tumor that had metastasized. Despite daunting odds — her doctor estimated her chances of survival at about one in three — Jaffe not only beat back the cancer, she survived a recurrence. Twenty years after diagnosis, she is living a different life. She started the Helene Jaffe Ovarian Cancer Fund at UCSF. "It's all grass-roots; I hand-address every envolope, I write every thank-you note. We've collected more than $200,000."
