I am honored to have been asked to lead Financial Women of SF this year. While serving on numerous committees and the FWSF Board during my 12 years of membership, I have come to love the mission of the organization and relish the relationships I have built through that work. I challenge all our members to get involved by volunteering at events or joining a committee.
FWSF is an all-volunteer organization and we cannot achieve our mission without the involvement of our members. By being deeply involved with FWSF, I have created relationships that are not only useful from a business standpoint but also are many lasting personal friendships. So, please join our committees, which lead to board involvement and those useful/lasting relationships. Anne Evers has written a great series of articles on this: Path to the Board: First Step ─ Maximize Your Membership by Joining a Committee; Path to the Board: Co-Chairs Speak Out; Path to the Board: Let’s Hear from Some VPs (and Past Presidents)
As we kick off 2019, I wanted to highlight a few exciting programs. Coming up on January 23 is our annual economic event. Jennifer Ellison of BOSInvest will interview Schwab Chief Investment Strategist Liz Ann Sonders at this breakfast gathering at the City Club. In February, we have a terrific program — Judson Walsh will lead Networking: The Art (and Science) of Advancing Your Career. This will be a great way to jump-start your career development efforts in 2019. Finally, FWSF is proud to present its second annual International Women’s Day event on March 7 at Wharton’s campus in San Francisco. This hugely popular event will feature Teveia Barnes, former executive director at California IBank, as well as roundtables and a panel led by last year’s moderator, Sheila Lewis. You can find out more about all these events and register on our website (FWSF Events).
I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!
Sincerely,
Kathy Wheadon FWSF
