Once again, FWSF members are invited to tour the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, following a private luncheon and presentation by Kendra Hartnett, a senior risk specialist at the Federal Reserve Bank. Kendra's topic is "Bitcoin, Blockchain, and the World of Cryptocurrencies." Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin continue to make headlines, presenting unexpected challenges and opportunities for financial institutions, central banks, and regulators in the U.S. and abroad. Kendra will offer current perspectives about these new currencies and technologies – along with key questions that businesses, consumers, and policymakers should be asking.


Speaker Bio

Kendra Hartnett, Senior Risk Specialist, Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco

Kendra Hartnett is the San Francisco Fed’s Risk Coordinator for Asset Wealth Management and Bank Secrecy Act / Anti-Money Laundering risk issues. As a member of the Risk Coordination Unit, she monitors banking risks and supervisory issues; provides guidance to Federal Reserve supervisory staff; and works with counterparts throughout the Federal Reserve System to develop and deploy regulatory requirements. Kendra joined the Federal Reserve System in 2016 after more than 25 years in the private sector working for financial institutions, most recently as a vice president of Compliance in trust and wealth management. She has a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
