Lela Jahn “Make a Difference” Challenge Grant

Lela JahnThis year, a $10,000 grant will be awarded to one of the FWSF Scholarship Recipients with the challenge to make a meaningful difference in other women’s lives. The recipient has the sole discretion on how she spends the money. It is hoped that using her time, talents and creativity, she will come up with novel approaches that prove to be an inspiring example for others.

In one year, the recipient will report back at the Scholarship Luncheon on her progress in using the grant to achieve her objectives.

Lela Jahn’s mission in life was to empower women with self-reliance and freedom of choice in their personal and professional lives. It was a passion that led to a remarkable life. Missionary and social worker in Brazil, preschool director in the inner-city of Chicago, teacher and rural village project director in Kenya, bank vice president and owner of Jahn Investment Advisors in San Francisco were all stops along her journey. Lela was honored as the 2000 Financial Woman of the Year and was very active in FWSF’s scholarship and mentorship programs until her death in 2015. More on Lela can be found at https://vimeo.com/169947109.

FWSF is very grateful to Lela Jahn and her husband Don Bayer for this legacy gift.
