Jennie Duong introduced the panel discussion, noting that the number of enterprise-level cyber-attacks on a global basis has risen exponentially in the past year; recent estimates put these numbers at more than 500 million worldwide. The sophistication of the attacks is very high and the techniques used are quite varied across email, social media, text, and websites.

On Thursday, October 13, 2022, Financial Women of San Francisco (FWSF) partnered with Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) - East Bay, St. Mary's College of California School of Economics and Business Administration (SEBA), and the SEBA Finance and Economics Clubs to host a timely discussion with a panel of real estate experts on the outlook for U.S. real estate, with a focus on the San Francisco Bay Area in 2023.

In partnership with Rock The Street, Wall Street (RTS), in the fall of 2022 FWSF volunteers taught high school students about finance and investments, including budgeting, investments and the stock market, at Woodside High School, Woodside, CA. In the winter/spring semester of 2023 FWSF volunteers will be providing mentorship to students on various topics depending upon their grade level: resume writing, use of LinkedIn, interviewing, looking for college scholarships, etc. The aim is to personalize topics based on the needs of the student.

What inspires you about this year’s FWOTY? It is not only that Nancy has reached the highest levels of the field of Finance and has numerous positions and awards, quite literally excels at all she puts her mind to, but she is concerned about improving the welfare of society and the environment globally. Complacency has never been Nancy’s approach from her early days. Positive change happens because of people like her who think and act for the betterment of all.

On June 3, FWSF awarded scholarships to 13 graduate students and 4 undergraduate students. Scholarships are made possible through the generosity of FWSF sponsors and the proceeds from the Financial Woman of the Year Luncheon. To date over $2.7 million in scholarship funds has been awarded to deserving students.

In 1956, 17 women gathered to create The Financial Women of San Francisco in what was the first organization for executive women in finance in the entire country. Over the past 65 years the forum has changed countless lives by providing a place where women working in financial services can meet, share ideas and experiences and propel their careers. The volunteer-run organization has evolved new ways to professionally advance its members through mentorship, events, awards and scholarships as dress codes, social mores and access to education and career opportunities expanded.
