Rebecca Macieira-Kaufmann

Rebecca Macieira-Kaufmann is President and Chief Executive Officer of Banamex, USA. In this role, she oversees the U.S. banking operations of Grupo Financiero Banamex, the second-largest bank in Mexico. Banamex, USA, provides a full range of financial services – including deposit and lending products – to consumers and businesses.

Prior to Banamex she served as President of Citibank California, where she was responsible for Citibank’s 396 branches and 4,100 employees in California and Nevada. Before joining Citibank in 2008, Ms. Macieira-Kaufmann was an Executive Vice President and Head of the Small Business Segment at Wells Fargo, with responsibility for profit and loss management of the Small Business Cash Management and Business Direct Lines and Loans businesses, as well as Small Business Marketing and the National Business Banking Center for the Diversified Products Group. She oversaw portfolio management, product management and development, finance, strategy and virtually all other functions related to the small business customer segment. She joined Wells Fargo in 1996 as a Vice President and Director of Marketing for Wells Fargo Insurance Services. Before joining Wells Fargo, she spent three years at Providian Financial, serving the last year as Vice President of Customer Marketing. Prior to that, she was Senior Engagement Manager at Retail Solutions Management Consultants in London, England.

In addition to her role as President and Chief Executive Officer of Banamex, USA, Ms. Macieira-Kaufmann serves as Chair of Citi’s California Leadership Council, which comprises the leaders of Citi subsidiaries in the state, including Citi Private Bank and Citi’s Institutional Clients Group. The council oversees Citi’s support for community/philanthropic, economic and educational organizations, as well as statewide government relations, marketing and business opportunities. Citi has approximately 6,000 employees in California and Nevada.

Ms. Macieira-Kaufmann graduated cum laude from Brown University in Providence, R.I., where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Semiotics. She was also a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Helsinki, Finland. She went on to earn an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, Stanford University.

Ms. Macieira-Kaufmann is a member of the Boards of Directors of Banamex USA, the Bay Area Council and the California Chamber of Commerce. She also currently serves on the Board of Governors of the San Francisco Symphony, the Advisory Board of the Asia Society of Northern California, and is Vice President of the Board of Congregation Emanu-El, San Francisco. She served on the Jewish Vocational Service’s board for 13 years and is the Past President. She was also a member of the Boards of Directors of the Fulbright Association USA and the Jewish Community Federation, and was a 2003-2005 Wexner Heritage Foundation Fellow. She is active in many community and business groups, including Financial Women of San Francisco and Young Presidents’ Organization.

Ms. Macieira-Kaufmann has been recognized for her leadership and accomplishments, including being named one of the Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business by the San Francisco Business Times for the past nine years. She was also named the 2010 Financial Woman of the Year by Financial Women of San Francisco.
