San Francisco, August 11, 2016 – Financial Women of San Francisco (FWSF), an organization dedicated to advancing the careers of women in financial services, today celebrated the group’s 60th anniversary with a “Six Decades of Finance and Fashion Show” at Bloomingdale’s Westfield Mall. All proceeds from the event and live auction went to the FWSF Scholarship Endowment fund, which provides scholarships to Bay Area women studying finance related fields.
Hosted by Master of Ceremonies Jake Wall, CEO and Designer at JAKE and seen on Project Runway designer, the show highlighted the flare of fashion and the advancements women have made in financial services over the past 60 years. Auction items included a Personalized Shopper Experience @Bloomingdale's, Equator Wine & Dinner Party for 10 People, coffee dates with past Financial Women of the Year Sarah Friar, CFO of Square and Pat Yarrington, CFO of Chevron; Valerie Scott abstract art piece and an exclusive Dry Creek Sonoma Weekend Retreat. Additionally, Bloomingdale’s donated a portion of their sales from the day to the fund.
FWSF President Darcy Illg said the event was designed to celebrate the 60th anniversary of FWSF, the progress women have made in financial services, and the changes she still hopes to see in the industry.
“When Financial Women of San Francisco first started in 1956, women made just 63 cents for every dollar earned by men,” said Illg. “Today, latest reports show women earn 79 cents to the dollar. It’s progress, but the National Committee on Pay Equity estimates women won’t receive equal pay until 2059², so there’s still a long way to go.”
“Since its inception, FWSF’s priority has been to support Bay Area women to advance their careers in financial fields through the support of their fellow members. We are also committed to providing support and opportunities for young women pursuing careers in financial services through our scholarship fund. These scholarships help recipients advance their education and gain visibility in the Bay Area’s financial community, as well as provide the tools and connections for more women to win equal pay, promotions, and respect in the workplace.”
This year, FWSF celebrated 11 women who received scholarships and has to date, awarded over $2 million in scholarships to more than 200 Bay Area women.

About JAKE
JAKE was founded by Jake Wall and Nathan Johnson in San Francisco in 2012 because this unlikely duo simply wasn’t interested in living ordinary lives in ordinary clothes. JAKE is an upstart premium fashion brand that offers clothes designed to fit perfectly and last practically forever, where even the details have details. Clothes that are classic – yet modern – with a defiant twist.
JAKE offers custom suiting, shirting, and separates for men and women. These true works of art are appearing at some of the most fashionable weddings and special events. And in 2015 after jumping into the mix as part of Season 14 of Lifetime's Emmy Award Winning Project Runway, JAKE launched a limited edition capsule wearNOW! line that focuses on definition and depth as well as adding Designer Blake Patterson from the same season of Project Runway to the team to evolve and expand the womenswear division to include couture and luxury gowns, cocktail, jumpsuits and dress pieces. At JAKE, satisfaction is not just embedded in the experience – it’s woven in the fabric.
Growing out of San Francisco’s historic background in garment making and manufacturing, JAKE produces much of the brand’s signature clothing in San Francisco from limited-run boutique fabrics made in the United States, Italy, and the United Kingdom.
