On June 6th, Kathleen Nielsen, FWSF’s president, and Minako Steel the co-chair of FWSF’s East Bay committee, spoke about FWSF’s history and mission at Capital One Café in Walnut Creek to Diablo Valley College (DVC) students interested in financial career paths. This event was the first of its kind with many more to come! Students had a unique opportunity to network and ask FWSF members questions about financial fields, potential careers, and mentorship advice! Capital One was kind enough to sponsor this event by providing a beautiful venue, food, drinks, and even some swag!
The attendees were comprised of DVC students, Mills College students, Walnut Creek community members, FWSF members, and even three FWSF 2017 scholarship recipients! Having such a diverse and inclusive group lead to great discussion over a roundtable style evening. We look forward to these new partnerships and the next student event!
