On Wednesday, the 28th of May, Financial Women of San Francisco hosted the 2025 Scholarship Awards Luncheon at the University of San Francisco to honor three graduate and six undergraduate recipients. Awardees receive both a financial scholarship and mentoring by FWSF members who provide an “open door” to real world experience of financial women. Since the scholarship program began more than 38 years ago, FWSF has awarded over $3.0 million to more than 350 deserving women.
Awardees gave powerful testimonies to their life experiences and the impact that these experiences will have for them. They spoke of the desire to give back and pay it forward, and the importance of this award for their future. Scholarship committee members shared the impact of winners from previous years, including the current FWSF President, who was an awardee in 2014.
Awardees spoke about people not coming this far to stay safe or just to invest in returns but for their educational experience to help them change and offer more to the world. They also addressed the realization that they did not have to choose between worlds but could bridge them. The closing remarks reminded us of the work of previous generations, seen in the impact of scholarship recipients decades later. We reap what we sow, and the afternoon was filled with joy for the award recipients and excitement for the impact they will have now, and in the future.
