Design and Achieve Your Own Professional Vision

May 2013

A Professional Development Series Event in the East Bay

Katie Carr, Principal at Left Lane Advisors, lead a thought provoking event on designing and achieving your own professional vision Wednesday May 8th in Walnut Creek. With a focus on strategies for women, Ms. Carr lead the group of attendees through a series of questions designed to help attendees better understand their “truth,” as not everyone’s vision of success is the same.

Questions like “What does success look like to you,” “What issues might be getting in the way of your potential,” “Are you willing to take risks,” and “What steps do you need to take to get there” stimulated open dialogue among the group. Ms. Carr also had several recommendations for honing the self-awareness required to make your vision of success a reality: using your support system, understanding your “locus of control,” honestly assessing your assertiveness, confidence, risk tolerance, and fearlessness, communicating your aspirations, and showing up in a way that matches your vision.

FWA members and guests stayed long after the presentation discussing their own experiences and challenges in their career growth. The evening was hosted at Burr Pilger Mayer’s downtown Walnut Creek location. We thank BPM and Katie Carr for an inspiring and enjoyable event.
