Clothilde "Cloey" V. HewlettClothilde “Cloey” V. Hewlett, Commissioner of the California Department of Financial Protection & Innovation (DFPI)

Clothilde “Cloey” V. Hewlett is Commissioner of the California  Department of Financial Protection & Innovation (DFPI), appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom in September 2021. She has served California under three different governors as  Undersecretary of the State and Consumer Services Agency and Interim Director of the Department of General Services.

Prior to her appointment as the financial regulator for the State of California, Commissioner Hewlett served as a Board Member for the Cal Alumni Association (CAA). In 2016, she became the second woman and first person of color in over 144 years to serve as Executive Director of the CAA. In her role as Executive Director and Chief Legal Officer, she was responsible for overseeing an organization that serves more than 550,000 alumni of the University of California, Berkeley. 

Commissioner Hewlett began her career as a pioneer in law enforcement at the San Francisco District Attorney’s office, has enjoyed a successful career in law including roles at the State Bar of California, and as partner at law firms K&L Gates and Nossaman, LLP. She is a co-founder and served as the first President of Black Women Lawyers of Northern California. She has been a recognized leader in public service and good governance for her many significant contributions and accomplishments throughout her career. 

She received a B.A. in political science from UC Berkeley and her J.D. from the UC Berkeley School of Law.

Melissa joined IMPACT Community Capital in 2020 and is responsible for relationship management and the delivery of investment solutions to IMPACT’s institutional clients. Prior to joining IMPACT, Melissa was the head of BlackRock’s insurance business for the West Coast, where she was responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with insurance and other taxable clients. Before that, Melissa was an institutional wholesaler for BlackRock’s Retirement Insurance Group, where she supported variable annuity wholesalers and financial professionals among BlackRock’s insurance clients.

Melissa received her undergraduate degree in Operations Research and Financial Engineering from Princeton University and an Executive MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Melissa has served on the Board of the Financial Women of San Francisco since 2016, and she currently lives in Berkeley, CA with her husband and two sons.

 

Tricia ShawTricia Shaw, Executive Director, Technology M&A, Morgan Stanley

Tricia is currently an Executive Director in Morgan Stanley's Technology Investment Banking Group, focused on mergers and acquisitions for software companies. She has over 10 years of investment banking experience and has advised on numerous debt, equity and M&A transactions. Prior to Morgan Stanley Tricia worked at both Evercore and J.P. Morgan in their investment banking / M&A advisory groups. 

Prior to Investment Banking Tricia served in the U.S. Navy as a Naval Aviator / EP-3 Mission Commander flying intelligence missions worldwide, supporting both Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). In her free time, she is an avid runner and enjoys spending time with her three kids. 

 

Kathie ChaoKathie Chao, Managing Director, Digital Services for Charles Schwab

Kathie Chao leads the Digital Cross-Enterprise Platforms team at Charles Schwab & Co. Inc. (Schwab). Kathie has been with Schwab for 9 years and is responsible for several key platforms supporting the client experience – including account open, login services, move money, and bank experiences. Prior to her current role, Kathie worked in product development and Strategy roles.

Prior to Schwab, Kathie was at the Boston Consulting Group where she focused on the Retail and Financial Services industries. She also previously worked in investment management at Tremblant Capital and in investment banking at J.P. Morgan. Kathie has a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and an MBA and MA in International Studies from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Kathie lives in San Francisco with her husband David and her three children: Emily (8), Anna (6), and Christopher (3). She is a native San Franciscan and lives five minutes from her parents and enjoys dropping her kids off at the same Elementary school she attended as a child.

 

Rey Valle Rey Valle, Sr. HR Business Partner/Talent Development Program Manager, Federal Reserve Financial Services

Rey Valle is a Sr. Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP)/Talent Development Program Manager for the Federal Reserve Financial Services (FRFS) organization. Rey leads and supports FRFS talent development, succession planning, workforce planning and learning strategies and initiatives, as well as drives the development of a learning culture for the FRFS organization. He has 20+ years of HR experience and joined the FRFS organization in August of 2022, after working for the FRB San Francisco since April 2018.

Prior to joining the FRB San Francisco, Rey held strategic HRBP roles in other organizations, including Bank of the West, PG&E, and Kaiser Permanente. Rey holds a BA in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley.
