Please join Financial Women of San Francisco and The Harvard Club San Francisco on January 24, 2017, for a conversation with Marie Chandoha, President and CEO, Charles Schwab Investment Management, hosted by Bill Haraf, Special Advisor, Promontory Financial Group and a member of the Board of Directors of The Charles Schwab Corporation.  Bill will lead a discussion with Marie on the state of the domestic and global economy and what is in store for the financial markets, interest rates, and the financial services industry in a Trump Administration. Marie and Bill will also explore the progress of women in the financial services industry. Marie ChandohaMarie Chandoha
President and Chief Executive Officer, Charles Schwab Investment Management Inc.

Marie A. Chandoha is president and CEO of Charles Schwab Investment Management, Inc. (CSIM), the investment advisor to Schwab Funds, Laudus Funds and Schwab ETFs™ and one of the largest money market and index fund providers in the industry.

Prior to joining Schwab in 2010, Chandoha spent three years as the global head of the fixed-income business at BlackRock (formerly Barclays Global Investors). She previously served as co-head and senior portfolio manager in charge of the Montgomery fixed-income division at Wells Capital Management; a senior bond strategist at Goldman Sachs; and managing director responsible for the global fixed-income research and economics department at Credit Suisse First Boston. Earlier in her career, Chandoha held research positions at Morgan Stanley and The Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Chandoha earned a B.A. degree in Economics from Harvard University. She is a trustee of the California chapter of The Nature Conservancy and on the Executive Committee and Board of Governors of Investment Company Institute.

Bill HarafWilliam S. Haraf
Special Adviser, Promontory

Bill’s financial services experience spans the corporate sector, the executive branches of both state and federal government, academia, and think tanks. He earned a reputation as an open, fair, and pragmatic regulator during four years as Commissioner of Financial Institutions in California, leading the agency through a period of economic upheaval both in the state and nationwide. His vast knowledge and understanding of the financial system led to his selection as the state banking supervisors’ representative on the Financial Stability Oversight Council, a federal agency created by the DoddFrank Act to foster coordination among financial regulators in order to identify systemic risks to the nation’s financial stability.

Before his appointment to state office, Bill was an independent consultant with Promontory while also serving as a visiting professor of economics and finance for the Graduate School of Management at the University of CaliforniaDavis. He worked on a wide array of client engagements at Promontory, in areas that included governance, due diligence, compliance, and strategy.

During nine years with Bank of America, Bill was managing director of Banc of America Securities and senior vice president of strategic policy development and planning for the bank. Earlier, he worked for five years as director of policy analysis for Citicorp. Bill was J. Edward Lundy Scholar and director of the financial markets project at the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research. He served under President Reagan as senior staff economist and special assistant to the chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers.

Bill earned a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Washington and a B.S. in finance from Northern Illinois University.
