2016 Financial Woman of the Year Award Program and Luncheon

Debbie MessemerDebbie Messemer, Managing Partner for KPMG’s Bay Area Market, has been selected by the Financial Women of San Francisco as the 2016 Financial Woman of the Year. This award recognizes Messemer for her outstanding leadership and achievement in her various finance roles.

With a background in banking and accounting, Messemer joined KPMG in 1982 in their Fort Worth office and in 1998 transferred to their San Francisco office. In 2008 she became KPMG’s first San Francisco female Managing Partner and today leads a team of over 1,100 high-performing audit, tax, and advisory professionals.

As “Financial Woman of the Year” Messemer’s aim is twofold:  to inspire young women as they think about a career in accounting or finance by opening their eyes to possibilities, and to encourage women already navigating their career paths to remain true to their core values.

Awards Luncheon Supports Scholarships

The net proceeds from the Financial Woman of the Year Luncheon benefit the FWSF Scholarship Fund. The Fund provides graduate and undergraduate scholarships to San Francisco Bay Area women pursuing careers in the fields of finance or the financial services industry. To date, the FWSF has awarded over $2 million in scholarship grants to more than 200 women.
